* What's for dinner?

As I sit here tonight, snacking on a hand full of Old Dutch Kettle Chips {salt & vinegar, OBVEE} I am brought back to our Christmas dinner that we had on Saturday night.

Each year, after spending Christmas Eve and the weekend down in Minn Lake we celebrate Christmas with my Mom, Paul, Jamie & Family to follow back here in Forest Lake.

This year we did things a little bit different and instead of having everyone over to our house (like in the past) we loaded up the car with gifts and headed over to Mom's, the next weekend {1.2.09}. With head count growing, the townhouse doesn't cut it and we needed more room. Jamie & Michael had Tristan, Victoria and Gabriel in tow this year- so it was off to "Grandmother's House We Go!"

Anyway...

Why was I thinking about dinner while eating chips {that I don't need!!}

Maybe it's because the chips are crunchy!?!

But that still doesn't explain it... does it?

After an amazing appetizer spread, complete with fondue, we had the main course-Christmas deep fried turkey dinner with cheesy potatoes {at least that was what we all had our hearts set on!} Sounds good, right!?
Well, Let's just say it could have been a scene taken straight out of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation- does everyone remember the turkey dinner scene?

Aaron and I bought Mom and Paul a new Turkey Fryer- to cook dinner with. Now we know that there will need to be some kinks worked out of it... because the turkey ended up a bit over done- OK.... waaaaaaaaaay over done!! Paul and Aaron have fried a bajillion turkies in the past so this was quite funny and a bit of a laughing matter, until we realized that this was all we had for dinner...

BUT on the bright side- if you like crunchy skin when enjoying a turkey dinner you would have been in heaven! hahahaha and as for the potatoes... well they also didn't turn out, not sure why.... but dinner never turns out like this over at Mom's house.

Before, during, after dinner and the next day- we all had a good laugh about it and luckily we were all good and full from the first round of aps!

It really only mattered that we were all in good company and had a great time spending time together as a family!

Thanks Mom & Paul for hosting a fantastic Christmas '09 in '10!
